In the Bond of Peace and Love.

Friends,

We are one month in to 2018, and so far so great! January has been a whirlwind, and it's literally only the beginning. Thank you for taking the time to read this Newsletter.

In January we were blessed with new opportunities, unexpected partnerships, and generous donations. We expect February to be no different. We have a few events planned that will help us raise support, but mainly to introduce our network to one of our initiatives for transformation: Beto's Coffee Company. This is a beautiful small business our team in Masatepe began in effort to fight economic oppression and support artisans in the community. You can read all about this unique approach, and support Business as Missions, at betos.org. We will also be spending two weeks in Illinois preparing for the field. This is going to be an intense two weeks with other International Teams missionaries preparing to depart for various locations in the spring. We ask that you pray for this specifically, as we have much to learn and take in.

God's goodness and provision have been so evident in this season and it's been humbling. While we know that God has called us on this journey, seeing His hand in the smallest of details affirms this and we are filled with so much joy and thankfulness. We want to encourage you, and thank you for being His hands and feet. You are an example of the kind of people Paul encourages the Ephesians and Colossians to be...

...eager to maintain the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace.
— Ephesians 4:3
β€œAnd above all these put on love, which binds everything together in perfect harmony.”
— Colossians 3:14

I know we say this all the time, but your support is more than validation or an ego boost. You are extending love, and you are doing The Lord's Work yourself. Your involvement is a reminder that alone we are weak, but with each other we are strong (Eph 4:12). It all goes to show that we cannot do this alone. No matter where we are in our fundraising goals or how prepared we are, we cannot do it and we have not done it alone. God continues to show us that with Jesus and with each other, we can accomplish anything. Thank you for coming alongside us in this journey. We love you and we cannot thank you enough.

In the bond of peace and love,

Jacob + Sarah

Therefore, my beloved brothers, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that in the Lord your labor is not in vain.
— 1 Corinthians 15:58
